The Waterless Sea
The Waterless Sea is a book written by Kate Constable and is part of the Chanters of Tremaris Trilogy.
The chanters of the island of Ravamey, Calwyn, Mica, and Halassa, along with the help of Heben, set off to the Palace of Cobwebs in Merithuros to rescue other chanter children who are being forced to sing songs of ironcraft. In order to prevent suspicion, Calwyn disguises herself as a noblewoman. Amagis, a sorcerer from the Black Palace, recognizes them as chanters. After the emperor dies; Calwyn and her friends have a chance to search for the kidnapped children. They find Heben’s sister, Shada, in Keela’s tower. She tells them that hidden around the Palace of Cobwebs are 4 other children. They take turns singing chantments to keep the Palace from falling. Calwyn, Mica and Halassa split up to look for the chanter children. Without the children singing, the Palace of Cobwebs is crumbling fast. All the chanters and Heben set off toward the Black Palace to set everyone else free. While on this journey, Calwyn finds out she has a gift that no other chanter has. She is to be the Singer of all Songs. Only one other chanter has come close to mastering all nine powers, but lost everything when trying to obtain a power that was beyond him. She has to be careful that this doesn’t happen to her.
The Waterless Sea was well written and held your attention throughout the whole book. Kate Constable did an excellent job bringing her characters to life and describing the feelings of loss, hope, happiness and love.
This is a book that I would recommend to anyone in search of reading a good novel. The amazing adventure continues in the sequel of the Waterless Sea, the Tenth Power and the conclusion to the trilogy, the Singer of all Songs.

They say that reading a good book is like journeying to another land; your book truly is a journey through a new world --- and you describe it very well!
