Yellowstone National Park                                                                   

Fact 1: The park was established in 1872.

Fact 2: Yellowstone National Park is America’s first national park.

Fact 3: The Park is located in Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana.

Fact 4: A large variety of animals live there including grizzly bears, elk, wolves, and bison.

Fact 5: The park has more than 300 geysers.

 

 

Yellowstone National Park was established in 1872. It is the first national park in the U.S. The park spreads across Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. The Park holds the most extraordinary geysers and hot springs. There are over 300 geysers. The park also contains a lot of animals like elk, wolves, grizzly bears, and bison. I really want to go see Yellowstone National Park some time. I would like to see all the geysers and maybe spot a grizzly along the way

Oregon

 

Fact 1: The top of mount Hood is 11,235 ft.

Fact 2: The capital of Oregon is Salem.

Fact 3: Oregon’s nickname is the beaver state.

Fact 4: Oregon has a $3.3 billion wood and lumber industry.

Fact 5: The land area of Oregon is 95,997 sq miles.

 

I would really want to go and see the state of Oregon again. It is located right above California, and right below Washington. It is an amazing state full of gorgeous nature and cities. There are lots of beautiful hiking trails, some national parks, and also a mountain. One mountain in Oregon is Mount Hood whose peak is 11,235 ft and is a great mountain for skiing. The state also contains the Crater Lake National Park (See picture below). The state also has some agriculture like blackberries, peppermints, cover seed crops, and black raspberries. It is a great state and I hope you visit it.

Nobody should drink and drive. I believe that drinking and driving is one of the most dangerous and irresponsible thing a person can do. It can be a bad example for young people, not to mention that you or somebody else can get injured or even killed. Also if you get pulled over by police you will have to pay a large fee and get into serious legal problems.

 

My first reason is that if you are drinking and driving anybody who sees you will get the impression that it is okay to do it. Then they will later start drinking and driving, and soon all the young people will be drinking and driving. Then the teenagers will put themselves and others in danger.

         

My second reason is when you drink and drive, you put yourself and others in serious danger. When you are doing this it will take your brain a longer time to react, therefore it will be harder for you to maneuver and you will probably get in an accident. Www.edgarsnyder.com/drunk-driving, said that in 2007 driver between the ages of 16 to 20 were involved in 1,719 car accidents all because of drunk driving.

         

When a person is drinking and driving they will probably get pulled over by police. When this happens they will get a large fee and will even get their license taken away.  They might even get arrested. 1,600,000 people were arrested for drunk driving. That is an average of 1 person getting arrested every 20 seconds. Drinking and driving will even get you from getting a job, because many jobs involve driving a car, and employers will not trust you.

         

In conclusion, I believe that drunk driving sets a bad example for teens, and you can get seriously injured or killed. Not to mention that you will get into a lot of problems with the law, and not get a job, all because of drunk driving. So I ask you, is drunk driving really worth all the trouble?

What Happens on 2098

 

         

          This was the  biggest mistake we, humans ever made. It is the year 2098. Around fifty years ago scientists invented new machines that would work more than humans and would save companies more money. Soon people all over the world were loosing their jobs to machines. These were not just regular robots, they actually looked like metal people. The scientists worked so hard on these machines that these robots developed feelings. Soon after people began to loose  their jobs, many of  them gathered in groups and started riots. They were going to kill the machines. Of course the robots were so advanced they didn't want to be exterminated, instead the machines were going to exterminate the humans.

 

          Soon all of  the machines gathered and started a robot alliance that was lead by a giant robot called “ TK421” . The robots built weapons for themselves to use against humans. This started a war between man and man's creation.

 

          Now, it is 2098 and the war has been going on for about forty- three years. Ninety- six percent of  humans are dead. The remaining four percent of humans are hiding in a abandoned factory like myself. My name is Robert, and I am sixteen years old. I have been hiding all my life in this factory. My mother told me everything I am sharing with you, she witnessed the war with her own eyes. She was kidnapped by the machines and taken to TK421. I don't know what they did to her, but I hope that she is still alive.

 

          I was planning to get her, but that would be suicide to go against those metal titans until now. A couple of weeks ago, one of the robots had broken into the factory to  search for humans. I had quickly went over to a metal pipe that transported water to the boiler room, and ripped it off. As the robot walked inside, I sneaked behind the machine and whacked it in the head. The head of the droid was separated from the rest of it's body. I then studied the body of the robot for weak spots and I had one of those robot blasters.

 

          Alright, I'm going after my mother. It has been almost two years since I've seen her. I think I know where she's at, before she was kidnapped she told me there was a bunker on the south side of the city, that's where I'm heading. I'm nervous, it would be amazing if I can get past those guards. I don't really know what to expect in there, but all I know is that I have to get my mother out of there.

          I slowly opened the metal door of the factory and sneaked out of the building. It was quiet, too quiet. As I walked through the empty streets of the city, I noticed that the whole city was almost destroyed. Many buildings were missing walls and windows. The sky was filled with smoke from all the damage the robots caused.

 

          All of a sudden I heard a loud blast! I turned around and saw metal figures emerging  from the other end of the smokey street. Another blast zoomed by me, this time it missed me by an inch! If I stayed out here any longer, I'm gonna get shot. I looked around me to see if there was any cover on the street. I noticed that there was a metal container laying on the left side of the street. I quickly ran behind the container

and ducked down. The robots were slowly walking towards me and firing shots at the same time. I took the blaster and shoot it two times. I missed the first one , but the second shot hit one of the machines around the shoulder area. More and more shots were being fired between all of us, until a bullet hit my blaster. I' m dead, without my blaster I can't defend myself. As the machines came closer I yelled out “ I surrender, stop shooting!”.

 

          For a couple of seconds the robots stopped shooting. Again I yelled out “I surrender!”. I looked back to see what they were doing. One of the robots was coming towards me. I could see that the machine had large metal claws and glowing red eyes. Before I could move, it picked me up and slammed me against a building. As the robot was about to kill me, Another one of the droids yelled out “ Stop, we can use this human as a slave,”.  The other robot looked back and said “ Fine, but we can't show this human our base!” .  Then the machine took it's claw and punched me in the head.

 

          I had blacked out for a while and when I woke up I was surrounded by an army of machines. I looked around and noticed other people trapped in cages and being servants for the droids. I looked up and saw a gigantic robot ,whom I assumed was TK421.

 

          “ Human, you will now be my slave until you die. You will have your memory and feelings erased so you don't argue with the things we make you do.” said TK421 “ take him to laboratory immediately!”  The robots took me by my arms and dragged me away. As they were doing this, I noticed that there was a woman that looked like my mother. I blinked and looked again and it was my mother!

 

          “ Mom, Mom, it's me, your son Robert!” I yelled. She looked at me as if she had never seen me, and ignored me. The robots took me in a large room full of weird machinery. They placed me on a metal table and tied me up. This is the last time I will talk to you, because I will not remember any thing about me. Goodbye.

 

          After the operation Robert worked for the robots alongside with the rest of the humans for many years until he died. Machines served us, now we serve machines.

Sherlock Holmes and The Fall of The Amazing Zalindas

Sherlock Holmes is the best detective at solving crimes. There is no case that's too difficult for Holmes, until now.

In the beginning of the book, Holmes receives news about an accident at the circus in London. He is told that three tightrope walkers, called “ The Amazing Zalindas”, have fallen to their deaths under under very suspicious circumstances. Later Holmes calls on a group of orphans called the “Baker Street Irregulars”, ( who are secretly his assistants), for help with this case. The orphans appear with a new member of the group called Ozzie. Ozzie had lost his parents at a young age, just like the rest of the boys.

When Holmes and the orphans get to the circus they notice a lot of interesting characters like Karlov, a angry knife thrower, and the Jonases, a group of jealous siblings who are trapeze artists. When Holmes and the boys get to the tent where the accident occurred, they find the weapon that caused the rope to snap. It was a small, glass razor blade found on the inside of the rope that caused it to snap. But the question now is, who could have done this?

Holmes tells the boys to ask the circus folk if they and what they know about the murder of the Zalindas. The boys investigate and find numerous things, like a new ally. Her name is Pilar, she is the daughter of the fortune teller. Pilar gave the orphans a lot of information about the suspects of the murder. One of the suspects is the knife thrower, who was angry at one of the Zalindas for stealing the heart of one of Karlov's loves. The other suspects are the Jonases, who were jealous of the Zalindas for stealing their spotlight. The last suspect was the rope salesman who sold the Zalindas their ropes. His name was Orlando Vile.

When the boys get back to Holmes, he tells them that earlier this week he had another case that was related to the Queen and Prince of England. The “Stuart Chronicle”had been stolen from the castle. The Stuart Chronicle was one of the oldest books in the world, it contained all of the Royal Families secrets and the book was covered in gold and diamonds. Holmes had inspected the castle and found a rope hanging from the window. He now knew that the Zalindas had teamed up with Orlando Vile. Holmes then remembered the rope, and had a conclusion on the crimes. The Zalindas had helped Vile and then were killed by him because they were witnesses . Now Holmes only has to stop Vile before he vanishes with the Chronicle. Can Holmes and the orphans stop this out before it's too late? Your going to have to read to find out.

 

Sherlock Holmes and The Fall of The Amazing Zalindas, was overall very good book. The ending of the novel was very exciting with a lot of twists and turns. This book will always have you on the edge of your seat. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery, suspense and danger. 

 

 

 

 

 

                                                                                    Down with Bullies

Bullies are mean. They live to hurt others with more than just cruel words. This is displayed in The Watsons Go to Birmingham---1963, where Byron, the eldest Watson sibling, bullies other people. He is not the only one, there is also another juvenile delinquent, called Larry Dunn, who lives on bullying others.

 

 

As I said before, they are jerks.They can hurt us in more than one way. In the book, Byron shows that he is top dog, by beating up his younger brother, Kenny. Byron and Larry Dunn also call him in many names that lower his confidence. This action will not allow the victim to reach their full potential, because they are brought down by bullies like Larry and Byron. Bullies also try to make you feel insecure everywhere you go; because of their actions,  you think that you cannot trust anyone, and that you are trapped alone at a deserted island. The first rule to survive bullies, is not to let them get in your head. Also remember that you are not alone, there are others out there in the same situation as you.

 

 

In conclusion, bullies try to hurt us in as many ways as possible. They will try to use strong words to bring down our confidence, and beat us up to make us feel unsafe. But if you stay strong and don't mind them,  you will survive Bully-ville.
