Eleanor & Park

     ''Nothing was dirty with Park, nothing could be shameful. Because Park was the sun, and that was the only way Eleanor could explain it.''

In Eleanor & Park, a novel by Rainbow Rowell, An over-weight sixteen year-old white girl with hair as red as fire and a thin honey colored half-Asian boy. Meet on the bus and slowly fall in love. In this 325 page novel Eleanor & Park face social challenges, family Issues and more. As to start off Eleanor & Park barely spoke a word to one an other, then gradually Park showed her his comics and she would return them in a day.Soon they gave each other mixed tapes of their favorite songs, then not so soon after that they started talking and that lead to chatting everyday and they realized they really like each other.Then a wicked rumor about Eleanor gets spread around and behind her back and Park gets into a fight defending her in her name.

     After that fight it become official Eleanor & Park are a couple. They start to see each other more often off the bus. Then one night they go out on a date and Eleanor & Park gets in the backseat of Park's car and touched each other like they always wanted to. When Eleanor gets back from the date she sneaks in her house so her vicious stepdad Richie doesn't yell at her but she hears Richie yelling at Sabrina her mother, and Sabrina crying. After slipping into her room that she shares with her many siblings she is shocked to see that all of her things that she kept secret from everyone exposed and ruined. Eleanor is convinced that since Richie kicked her out once a year ago that not only that he will kicked her out but also will kill her. So she runs and runs and runs.

     She runs to Park's house and she asks Park to driver her up to Minnesota because she can't go back to her house Her uncle and aunt invited her to come up that summer for a gifted high school program so she decides that's her best option even if it is a little early. Park gets money and permission from his dad in the middle of the night, then Park drives Eleanor to her uncle and aunts house all night and early that morning. Her uncle and aunt are fine with her living with them and Park leaves her when he knows she will be safe.Over the next few months Eleanor wrote many letters to Park but never sent them.Then about a year later Eleanor send back a post card that Park had send her months ago that was three words long.

     I would definitely recommended Eleanor & Park because its heart-warming, charming story with plenty of comedy. I would only recommend it for about 7 grade&up because its very graphic including sketchy items, and intimate words.

 I think Rainbow Rowell did such a good job on this book, it deals with so many things that happen in really life like bullying,crushes,sexual harassment,family challenges, and money problems.  Eleanor & Park Is such a reader i couldn't put it down!

But what i think Rowell could've done better is being less vague, sometimes she didn't always explain things so it might'eve been hard for younger readers to catch up. Also it wasn't such a  eye opener in the beginning it took about 30 pages to get into the good stuff.

Overall i would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for this breath-taking read and i hope you will be able to share this experience with me. Adios Amigos!
