Kira-Kira is a book about a girl named Katie and her family during a few hard years of their lives. They moved from Iowa to Georgia because they were in need of money. As school starts up her sister (Lynn) and her grow further ad further apart, a new character seems to take Katie’s place in Lynn’s life. Katie has doubts about Lynn’s new friend Amber, and doesn’t see why Lynn admires her. After getting dumped by Amber Lynn Grows ill. Their parents give news about a new member of the family, Little Sammy. To help aid their sick daughter they commute to working almost 24/7 to their jobs at the hatcheries. Once they finally make enough money and Lynnie seemed to be doing much better, they take a trip to scout for the house that Lynn has always wanted. After moving in Lynn grows ill again, they were hoping that the new house would help their fearfully sick daughter.
Kira-Kira isn’t just about money, or friendship, but it’s about one person’s like that took a turn for the worst… or so it seemed. Later in the story you learn that Katie learns a valuable lesion about telling the truth that she will carry with her throughout her life.
When everything for little Katie wasn’t going very well, for a while it just got worse and worse, until she realizes that her sister will never truly be gone, she’ll see her everyday of her life.
If you’re looking for a book about hardships, tragedy and an unbreakable bond between two sisters, I greatly recommend Kira-Kira.

Sounds like an intriguing book that shares some tough life lessons. I wonder if the author has written any other good books.
