Artemis Fowl: The Arctic
Incident
BY: Michie
Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident is the intense second book in Eoin Colfer’s captivating series. Being the sequel to Artemis Fowl that debuted in 2001, this book will keep you on the edge of you seat, bed, or Lazy Boy chair you happen to be reading on.
A bit of information you might want to know from the first book: At the beginning of the first book, it tells you that Artemis Fowl Senior was pronounced dead at the explosion of the Fowl Star, their ship, in the Arctic Circle near Murmansk, Northern Russia. Artemis Fowl II (our Artemis) is convinced that his father is still out there alive, captured, but alive. And of course he is right.
The book starts out with the Fairies or (The People as they like to be called) discover that the goblin triad, the B’wa Kell are being armed with softnosed lasers powered by nuclear human batteries and have some sort of scheme planned to overthrow the LEP, as Holly Short finds out. Everyone knows that goblins are much too stupid to have planned this themselves and they must be associated with a Mud Man (the People’s term for humans). Everyone at LEP (the People’s “Police”) thinks it’s Artemis Fowl on account of their encounter in the last book where he kidnapped Captain Holly Short and demanded a ransom of their precious gold from the people. Yet, as it turns out it was not Artemis who has been supplying the B’wa Kell with nuclear batteries. So now with the People not being able to go to the surface without revealing their entire race to the world, Artemis and his ever so loyal bodyguard, Butler team up with Foaly, Captain Holly Short and Commander Julius Root to help them find the person who has been providing to the goblins and find the real fairy mastermind(s) behind the “Goblin’s plan”. In exchange, Artemis gets the People’s help to find his father, who as they find out is being held up for ransom by the Russian Mafiya. In the midst of the quest to get Artemis Fowl Senior, the LEP and the People find themselves in a situation so bad it will put them to the choice, keep to the search for his dad, or save the LEP. It will take one of Artemis’ complicated, risky plans to save the People, and his dad.
This was a great book that combined the elements of a fantasy and science fiction and brought them into this excellent series. Artemis is a 13 year-old criminal mastermind with the highest IQ in Europe who is brought to life along with all of the other characters by Eoin Colfer. It’s funny and witty with lots of high-tech gadgets that you just wish you had. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes sci-fi or fantasy. It isn’t an extraordinarily long book but it will leave you wanting more, so good thing there’s a whole series and this is just the second.

A.)I think my wiki page is somewhat well made. It is entertaining and it has lots of my work on it. I think I could’ve linked it to more sites and put more videos on it though. All in all an “A-”.
B.)I think the wiki was fun and a cool way to share work with other people. It was fun having our own page that we were able to do whatever we wanted to it. You could also edit your work on it whenever after you get some constructive criticism. I think we could have used the wiki a little more over the course of the year
