Ruby came to live with her sister after her mother disapeared. There was a distant relationship between the two.
On the night she got there she tried to run away but got caught. Jaime, Cora's hsuband got to her as Rosco, the dog came up to them. Nate the neighbor helped her think up a lie.
Ruby started school riding with Nate and Gervais. She made no frieds that she wanted. But Olivia, a girl from Jackson became her unexpected friend.
She got a job at a jewerly store at the mall. Harriet, the owner, became became a friend along with Reggie a vitamin kiosk guy.
Cora told her that she tried to connect with her and her mom after she left college. Ruby didn't believe her, not wanting to, always had believed her mother. She ended up ditching school and getting drunk in the forest, on the way back from seeing her best friend and her boyfriend cheat on her. She woke up in Nate's car because Olivia had dropped her off, regretted t and told him.
Jaime didn't talk to her for a while because he was so disapointed in her. He only talked to her when she saved the pond fish from a heron.
Gervais startedtutoring her in calculus. Olivia and Gervais were friends.
Nate started getting hit by his father and Ruby tried to help him when they were together. He didn't want the help so they broke up.
Nate ended up leaving nd he went somewhere.
The conflect of this story was Ruby trying to find herself amongst others. The resolution was when she and Nate got back together and she was happy again.
I liked the plot of athe story. I would recommend this book because if you enjoy tales about people's life then you'll enjoy the book.
