Sword of Shannara Book Review
Sword of Shannara takes place in peaceful Shady Vale where naïve brothers Shea and Flick Ohmsford have no care in the world. Little do they know that fierce battle is brewing between good and evil. Man, elves and dwarfs vs. gnomes, trolls and demons. Dark and mysterious Allanon a druid comes to warn Shea of the impending doom. Allanon tells him he is the remaining heir that can wield the legendary sword of Shannara, the only defense against the Warlock lord. Shea did know he was adopted but he had no idea he was royalty. The warlock lord was plotting to take over the world. Shea does not believe this and questions it until a minion of the Warlock lord (skull bearer) comes to destroy Shea. Shea and Flick flee Shady Vale in quest for the druid. They meet up with him and begin the quest for the Sword of Shannara.
The dwarfs Balinor and Hendel, elves Durin and Dayel, and Highlander Menion accompany them along the journey. The warlock lord had already assembled an army so they had to act swiftly. Throughout the trip they find many perils. But they must overcome it to save the world.
Terry Brooks has written probably one of the best epics of all time. Even though this was written in 1976 all the pages were worth the read. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes fast paced fantasy novels. I liked how Brooks described the setting so magically and gave the reader a vivid mind picture.

This story sounds riveting, Kevin. I like your strong recommendation...even though it was written 'way back' in '76.
