                                        The Alchemyst

                          {The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel}

                                                                       By Effa H.

          What would you achieve with your life if you can live years, decades, or even centuries stretched longer than an average person can? I’m not confident of what I would accomplish but one thing’s for sure, I would live my life to the fullest. This book is regarding a set of twins, Sophie and Josh Newman, the Sun and the Moon of the prophecy in the Book of Abraham the Mage also acknowledged as the Codex.

     Sophie works at a coffee shop and her brother, Josh, works across the street in a small bookshop where they met the owner Nick Fleming and his wife, Perry.  Although they look ordinary, they are not. In fact, they are Nicholas Flamel and Perenelle Flamel the guardians of the most powerful book, the Codex. This book conceals the secrets of eternal life. With this book, Nicholas and his wife have lived for centuries. If it falls in the wrong hands, it will destroy the whole world.

     Dr. John Dee plans to steal it so he can bring back the Dark Elders, so they can be in control of the world as they did before, centuries ago. While Dr. John Dee was in the process of stealing the book, he lost the last couple of pages, ripped off by Josh when he was trying to keep hold of it. As Dr. John Dee left, thinking he had the whole book, he kidnapped Perenelle. Soon, as he was heading back to his boss, Dr. John Dee looked through the book, when at last he accessed to the last pages when he figured out it was absent.

      After the attack, Nick or Nicholas led Sophie and Josh goes for a visit. They went to Scathach, an ancient warrior, one of the Elders of the Next Generation for some help. Scatty (Scathach) is not ordinary either, other than being a Next Generation, she is a vampire, but she is a vegetarian.

     Michael Scott is one of Ireland’s most successful authors, a master for writing fantasies. In this story, Michael Scott is very descriptive that actually make a whole movie in your mind. I would recommend this book to people who like fantasies and adventure.

This sounds like an exciting read. It's on my summer reading list. Thanks.
