howdy there

My name birth name is Hadiya, but I go by Cameron. I love to write, read, blog, and create things. I have a lot of favourite bands, books, and fandoms and it's too hard for to pick ONE favourite.

On here I will be posting my final drafts I made in my 7th grade English class. I'd like to think my writing is good, but I'll let you be the judge of that. I like constructive criticism, so please comment on my writing.

Inspiration Poem

Most people are inspired by their family,

Well, I'm inspired by people with,

Pride.

The healthy kind,

Of course.

LGBT+ pride,

They remind me

That I'm lucky

To be born now,

Than 50 years ago.

People of colour,

The history is

Overwhelming,

Scary, and magical.

But we're more

Humane now.

Sports fans,

The jumping,

The yelling of joy.

Then the disappointment,

When something goes wrong.

Their dedication is

Motivating.

Pride,

It's different

For everyone.

But,

The respect is

Deserved.

And with the right

Surroundings,

You get it.

1st Semester Reflection

The topics we were assigned in this first semester of English were really enjoyable. I liked being able to pick what I wrote about because I'm so used to teachers picking the topics out for us. Letting us choose what we wrote about was also good because if the teacher picked something out that the students weren't "passionate" about, the writing wouldn't be to the best of our abilities.

The length of time we're given to complete our writing was a good length of time. We got what we needed complete in the time we were given and we used that time productively. I'm guessing if we slacked off with the time we had in class to write we would need more time, which is more motivation to use all the time we had.

I liked the amount of feedback I got. It'd definitely gotten more feed back in this class than I had in any other class, and I really like that. I helps me to improve what I'm writing and I try to apply them to my own writing.

I do my best work when I work alone. I don't always like working with others but I do realize that sometimes I do work better with others. I feel like working alone gives me more of a chance to think about my writing and work on it I guess.

I liked using the wiki and I didn't find using the wiki or google documents hard at all. I actually find it easier than just hand writing it all. In the beginning, using the wiki was hard because I didn't know where things were at, but I've gotten better at. (I said better. Not good.)

For me the writing process was pretty easy. Nothing I haven't done before but overall, if I had to pinpoint what was hardest for me, it'd be the brainstorming part. I feel most people agree that thinking about what you write or how you write it is harder than drafting and editing. I like that we turn in our drafts before we start writing our final copy because we get feed back from it and it helps us when we write our final.

Something from this year I learned is that you have to be more organized than in any other grade we had finished, and it will continue like that into further years. But something about that I learned is that it pays more to be organized mentally than physically. You can pass off as organized and never lose papers and always know whats going on in class, but if you don't feel organized, you will get stressed out just as if you were always losing papers and didn't always know what you were doing in class. Another thing I learned this year is that if your teacher can't read your handwriting, they won't even try to. I have seen students get marked down because their teacher couldn't read what they had written. The final thing I think is important I've learned so far in this year is that you will lose and gain friends. You may feel sad at first when you lose them, but you'll understand that them not having the title of "friend" to you anymore is a good thing. When you gain friends you're opening yourself up to new people and even if the friendship doesn't last long, it's important to remember that in these years of our life, we're learning where we fit in our world and we're learning the types of people that we should let into our lives. It's our period of experiments and learning.

Poem

i said i'll never write about people, now look at me

it's your birthday, and you remember your older sister telling you

that you aren't really that age yet till the day after.

She always tells you random things.

like there's always a ghost near you,

and it could be doing anything.

She'll seem like the coolest, wisest person you know,

but in a few years time, She'll be calling you the cool one,

and going to you for advice,

because now you're the wise one,

to her at least.

She'll always be the sun to you,

you,,,you're like her old box of make-up.

your music tastes', and inspirations

will never match

you'll forever use astrology and memories

to explain why you get along so well.

and you know her achilles' heel,

and she knows yours

and you never were Siblings,

you were just friends.

People with pride inspire you. Great poem. And I can see that pride in you, too.
