Joe, The Blood of Olympus review

College should not come free

College is something that should not come free, but something you must earn. 80,000 dollars is a good amount of money if you ask me. And It shouldn't just be handed out to those who can just pass the test by the skin of their teeth because paying for college shows a sign of maturity that you care enough to spend 80,000 dollars. Because when it comes to college it does not only give you a life time of education but  also a 4 year supply of food and housing. And that is why it's my belief college should not come free.

First, college is the 2nd most expensive thing in life besides buying a house. College's total cost is usually between 60,000 to 80,000 dollars earning the money for college shows the admissions office that you have the work ethic to earn that some of money and why fix what hasn't broken, and when people start thinking college is free they get the illusion that every thing else in life comes free also. So you're basically being coddled until you're about 25 years old.

Secondly, college is one of the hardest things to get into. Most major colleges only accept 60% of their applicants and yes, that is over 50% that still doesn't mean colleges look for just the good grades. "I look for someone who has done well in high school, is motivated to work, has done well on standardized testing, and is a strong leader" says Dean Roboski, MSU College of Law. And if you get in for free and then decide its not your thing and drop out the second semester of freshmen year, you just wasted a great learning opportunity. Did you know that 3/4 of college students who have been accepted to college don't graduate. So if you don't even have to pay your way in you just wasted a 80,000 dollar opportunity and you're just throwing it all away.

In addition, most major colleges do not just give a lifetime of education but also housing for a entire 4 year time period  I remember when all of my older siblings decided to stay  on campus instead of at home for their freshmen year. That was a big decision of whether not to pay 10,000 dollars a year for just housing alone. If college housing comes free where do you think that money comes to fund it? Yes, the government probably could for a little, but add on the price and amount of college attendants each year and what do you get? Poorer economy.

Furthermore, as i have already stated in my essay, that college cost a substantial amount of money. So if you get into college for free you be like hey colleges isn't that hard maybe life will be free to right? WRONG! college is definitely not free so if they get that illusion in their head. They will be basically coddled until their a grown man or women.

As i have noted for all of the reasons above why i personally belief that college shouldn't be free because of the cost to the maturity  signs and the illusion of a easy life and that is why i strongly belief that college should most certainly not come free.

1 semester reflection

the 1st semester of 7th grade has gone fairly well i think the assignments have been easy to write we were give a reasonable amount of time. And the assignments were easy to complete and understand, the topics were enjoyable and even sometimes  fun. The time length was more then enough mr kabodian gave us enough time to work with others.the wiki was easy to handle and work but for me i struggled but that was probably because it was me and i am horrible at technology  i liked the writing process because we had simple steps like to make a rough draft and then edited and then type it made things much more simpler. i am happy to be in this English class because mr kabodian gets all the work in class so we rarely have homework in this class that helps a ton. we could use some reach but its not that big of a deal.

I like 7th grade in general because i thought at the begging of the year that it would be hard but once i got into the swing of things it was actually relatively easy math is probably my worst subject but thankfully i have a great teachers so that helps English is a class that i look forward to each day its not something i dread but something i look forward too. i also have gym as one of my electives and that helps me burn off those extra Twinkies i have been eating. The binders are also a great help with organization the 5 minute passing time is good because it helps me stay on task and not to wander off. and the best thing about this  school is how Respect Responsbility and Relationship and those are the main things that you should follow not only in school but in life and this concludes my semester reflection for 7th grade.

If they actually knew me

They guessed i was depressed

by the way that i dressed.

They judged me by my shoes

they thought of them as clues.

They chose to oppose by

the color of my clothes.

They tried to oppress

what i wanted to express.

They were critical,

because they thought i was analytical.

And yet i bet

they tried to deny

what wasn't truly a lie.

And once they guess

they know nothing of the rest.

Winston Churchill

By: Joseph Roboski

A lady at a dinner party no doubt offended by Churchill’s monopolizing the conversation (which he often did), said to him, “Mr. Churchill, I like neither your politics nor your mustache” To this Churchill replied “do not distress yourself madam you are not likely to come in close contact with either of them.” Have you ever wondered how a human person could produce this much swagger? Keep reading, and you will learn the true definition of swagger, and how winnie increased Britain’s swagger as well.

Winston Churchill was born November 30th 1874 in Blenheim Palace in The United Kingdom. As a child Winston was not the smartest or the strongest he was neither the brains nor the bronze.  Winston went to Harrow Boarding School at age 7 in 1882. To get in Harrow Churchill was asked to translate a couple English sentences to Latin and vice versa. But due to his lack of understanding he simply put down his name and a number 1 to resemble the first sentence, and yet Churchill got in. “Churchill never knew whether it was the brackets around the figure 1 or the elegant way in which he had written his name at the top of the examination paper.” Churchill attended a small portion of his education at harrow. Due to the frequent floggings he later began his time at Sand Hurst royal military academy. It was for only 18 months but by that time he was already a lieutenant in the Calvary.

After several years serving in the British Calvary Churchill and writing several books about his campaign in the war. He retired from the army and entered politics in 1900. He was  a conservative but, he switched parties in 1904 to a liberal due to his disagreement of ideas & beliefs with the other conservatives. As a liberal, he had many great political accomplishments: he was under-secretary of state of colonies, President of board and trade, home secretary and first lord of admiralty all by the age of forty.

Churchill was influenced by many people but mainly by his father lord Randolph Churchill who taught his son about many things politics, and the military strategies   during the 1700s and so much more Churchill as a child struggled with a small speech impediment like his father they both struggled with a lisp but he soon over came by making several well known speeches like the iron curtain Speech

Churchill had effected America because along with helping Great Britain he helped America as well through World War (WWII) as Britain’s great prime minster. He served nine years as prime minster and he led Britain through many wars besides just WWII but (also World War 1 the Boer war but also the Sudan war.) He also increased Britain’s navy’s power and strength he advanced their weapons and hulls. But before that, during World War 1 Churchill was stationed in the trenches of Germany and due to the dirtiness of the trenches they were invested with lice so Churchill would much rather walk above along the trenches rather than being down in the trenches with the lice. Churchill had not had any romance in his life until September 12th 1908 when he met clementine Hozier. They were married for the rest of his life until 1965 when Churchill’s died they had 5 children: Sara, Mary somas, Diana, marigold and Randolph. Churchill was one of the most important British & world known leaders today

Churchill was not just one of Britain’s greatest prime minister but gave a series of speeches that increased Britain’s swagger/strength during World War 2 he served several years in multiple wars and political positions he became one of Americas closets allies in the early & mid-1940s and this is honestly how my dude Churchill effected America Britain & the world.

Churchill had not just good friends with Roosevelt,  (Americas president at the time) but also with Joseph Stalin the leader of the soviet union in the 1940s  now Churchill had meet Stalin many times and one of those times they met at statins home and at that time Churchill at the time Churchill had a fascination with gold fish unaware of this Stalin had them in his pond Winston saw this and thanked Stalin for the fish Stalin replied he could take them home if he wished Churchill could not due to coming there on an army bomber so instead Stalin suggested that he have them for breakfast Churchill was horrified. Soon after one of Churchill closest friends passed away, franklin Roosevelt. And Churchill cried.

Churchill had achieved so much for our world. he affected us in politics in war in peace and so much more and this is how Churchill effected the world he passed away on 1965 on January 24th  the queen organized a state Funeral for Mr. Churchill. And this is the story of my dude Churchill.

My future career

hat are values and why are they so important? values are the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something. And that is why when i think of my values i think of them as the most important thing that a person can have to make up who they are and they are going to be. Because you can not direct the wind but only adjust your sails. I listed my values which are also my morals I listed faith, freedom, respect, honesty and learning and these are all great values that i use to  help me and others around me at school and at home. because you should  not just watch your morals when your around somebody but just do it automatically.

I searched many  careers and i realized one that match many of my personal values was  being a doctor because you help others and you must learn a lot of new things but also you  must be honest and fair but also it is a job that has a high income and is never a bad thing either. I realize that to become a doctor you must take a large amount of internship and then grad school and in totally you will graduate at age 33 at the youngest and then it is even hard to get a well paying job but their are also large benefits like free heath care  and vacation time and sick leave and that is the many pros of being a doctor or  a surgeon.

In the future i plan to take advanced classes and higher courses because too be a doctor you must have the higher intelligence so that is why i plan to take many  AP classes i will plan to attend a good college for physicians and others in that field and that is how i prepare to get ready for the field of medicine I plan go above and beyond the act scores so it will look much better on my college application and this is the career I would choose because you get paid from 400,000  to 500,00 dollars each  year it has great bonus and many other great bonus band that is why I would choose to be a doctor.
