Inspiration poem

My dad inspires, energizes, and moves

Me everyday.

After long hours at work

Coming home to his family

Warm smiles of laughter and love.

Always supporting me

Always caring

Always so kind and amazing.

Working as a doctor

Helping to restore function to those in need.

He has a strong sense

Between right and wrong

He always chooses the higher path.

My dad is funny, positive, confident, hilarious, and incredible

And that is what inspires me.

I love my dad

Very, very much.

Persuasive Essay

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Having already hit snooze about a thousand times, you try to drag your self out of bed, but you feel like a zombie. Kids around the world are not getting the amount of sleep they need. MacDonald Middle school should start later. This would make grades go up,  and students would be happier, and healthier.

First, more sleep leads to better health. According to the National Sleep Foundation kids from the ages of 10-17 years need 8-and-a-half to nine-and-a-half hours of sleep each night. Sleep can improve mental and physical health, it helps your brain work properly by paying attention, working, learning, and more-- all things we have to do in school. Repeated sleep deficiency can increase risk of kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and stroke. Therefore, it is very necessary to get the necessary amount of sleep maintain good health.

Equally important, students grades will go up greatly. Kids who seem excessively sleepy during the day are more likely to experience problems with learning, paying attention, and hyperactivity than kids who aren Many tests such as the one that researchers at McGill University and the Douglas Mental Health University found. The children

who had better quality sleep performed better in many academics. Poor sleep can negatively affect a students grades, and at MMS we can bring students GPA up just starting later!

Finally, if MacDonald Middle School would be able to start later, kids would be happier. They would get the amount of sleep they need to take on the day. sleeping helps to lessen mood swings and bring about a general scene of well being.

For the reasons above, school should start later. If MMS started later people would be healthier, students grades would go up, and students would be happier! If MMS started later we could excel greatly has a school!

Reflection

This school year has been amazing!  I have discovered so much already. I have learned about atoms in science, fractions in math, the start of the human civilization in social studies, how to write a poem in English, and much, much more.  I have managed to keep straight A's the whole year, while not stressing too much, which personally is a big accomplishment. A very easy trick that helps me to stay less stressed and organized is writing in my planner. It has helped me to stay less stressed about the amount of work I have to do. For example, when I'm at home, I look in my planner and see what I need to do for homework and then I plan my day accordingly.  It also reminds me of what I need to bring home. Having all A's and being less stressed has been one of the things that has made 7th grade a good year. I have also met new people and made new friends at school as well as in my extracurricular activities like tennis, choir, debate, and dance.

English as been one of my favorite classes this year. We have done a lot of interesting and enjoyable assignments.  For example in our book of choice assignment we were able to choose a book to read, and write a review on it. I really liked this assignment because we were able to pick any book we wanted to read, and I really admired my book which made the report simple to do. After the book of choice report was done, we then had to write a poem and although this was exciting, it was a little hard to do. Before this I had never really read poems or learned how to write them, so it was a bit confusing. We went outside to look at the things around us, and I thought that was a great way to get inspiration. The persuasive essays that we did were interesting and helped me to learn how to express my feelings.  However, I did not like the subjects that we had to do the essay on as they did not excite me. The time period that we got to do this assignment I thought was reasonable, but I would have liked it if we had more time for feedback. The last assignment we did was the Public Service Announcement and this was definitely my favorite!  We got to pick our partners which I loved because I got to be with my friends.  We could also be creative in finding fun ways to persuade people and we were able to use the computers. The only thing that for me was good but might not have been the best for someone else, was picking partners.  If you didn't have friends in your class that might have been a hard assignment, but it could help people make friends. English has been a delightful class, and I'm happy that it's not over yet!

Open Doors

Travel is for

the curios, the cold, and the bold

the happy, the sad, and the old

Filled with many hellos

and goodbyes

filled with lots of laughter

and cries

from the six million year old walls

of the Grand Canyon

To the enchanting sunlight city

of Venice, Italy

from the sunset

of the LA beaches

to the flowing water

of Michigan's great lakes

to run, to jump, to fly,

to sail, to lunge, to drive

all mean the same

but matters the direction

new sights, new smells, new sounds,

opening doors

as if putting on glasses

and seeing another dimension

making connections

humanity

so complicated, yet so simple

we have different

religions

and languages...

different

colors and sizes

but we are all are apart of

humanity... yes.

Career Report

Learning, helping/service, fun/pleasure, honesty, freedom. These are my five values. Values are things that you believe are important in the way you live or work. Learning is very important to me, I think that everyone should try to acquire as much knowledge as possible because the more we know the more we can do. Learning makes us better people, and I think it is a very important value for any job. Like learning, helping is another essential value to a job. I love finding ways to help people and i think by being a school and career counselor I would be able to do that everyday! If a job is not helping someone, then it is not nessecary, for example a teacher helps his/her students gain knowledge, a doctor helps to solve medical problems, actors/actresses help to entertain people, waiters/waitresses help to make your time at a restraunt more enjoyable etc. Another important value is fun/pleasure, I belive that to be able to put 100% effort into your job you have to love and enjoy what your doing. I think values are very important to have.

As I was looking for a career to choose, I saw a school and career counselor and it really interested me. School counselors help students develop academic social skills and succeed in school. Career counselors assist people with the process of making career decisions by helping them develop skills or career or educational. To aquire this job it is necessary to have a master's degree. the employment of this occupation in 2014 was about 273400, and the employment of this job is projected to grow 8% from 2014 to 2024. Both school and career counselors generally work full time some schools counselors do not work during the summer when school is not in session. A school and career counselor would get 25.66$ per hour and 53,370$ per year. I figured that this would be a good job to look more into when I'm older, I would be helping people to solve there problems, i would be learning something new everyday, i would enjoy meeting other people, and more!

To be a student counselor I will continue to do well in school and excel in my classes.  I will also learn about various careers that would allow me to help point students in various directions.  I will

watch my current teachers to learn how to motivate my classmates to be the best they can be. Therefore   When I counsel students, I will have those skills too.
