Markus Persson (Notch)
By: Matthew Brace
“Who is Markus Persson?” He is the creator of Minecraft, he is Swedish, and his nick name is “notch.” He is a video game designer. He was married in 2011, and divorced in 2012.
“He grew up in Stockholm Sweden.” He was born on June 1st 1979, and he is 36 years old. Growing up in Sweden, “Markus would program on his dad’s computer whenever he got the chance to.” He got good at programing and started to use Java and then he made games. “At age 7 he began to make Minecraft for fun.” He made progress fast and his programing skills kept growing as fast as Minecraft progressed. By the time he was half way done he was able to make 2 games at once!
When one of his elementary teachers told him that he would be able to fulfill his dream of making a company that just made him try harder than ever.
“Markus started Minecraft as a personal project for fun.” But then he got the idea to start a company called “Mojang.” “In 2010 Markus alongside 2 other friends founded Mojang,” at this point he started to sell copies of the game, then it began snowball into a huge game and the company made millions because people loved the game so much. “After that he then decided to make more games, and join programing contests just for fun and to learn as well.”
He has gotten many awards in the process of developing Minecraft. “He has gotten the BAFTA games special award for making Minecraft.” “The BAFTA award is the biggest award he has gotten.”
He has made several games in his life, like 0x10c (0 to the 10th C), also known as mars affect. Another know game he made is “the two towers.”

my persuasive essay:
We should not have homework. People and teachers say that homework helps you learn but it’s not true. Homework just makes your grade go down the drain. It also keeps you away from your family. It makes you stress out about school. You will have less time to yourself to do other things you enjoy.
The first reason is that it just hurts your grade. Homework just teaches you what you learned already in school. That is why people don’t do it when they are supposed to. Instead they just ignore it because they already know what it is supposedly teaching you.
The second reason is you will have more family time. This is because you are trying to do this instead of talk to people. You get home and you have homework you have the choice of doing it and getting a good grade, the other choice is to talk to your family and not tell them you have homework and get a bad grade for that piece of work.
The last reason is you will get stressed out. The homework might make you stay up and get really tired and stressed about your grade for the homework. If we did not have homework this would not happen and people would be more aware of other things.
All of these reasons are good to know when you have a kid. It will help you connect to your child and get them help. I hope you have learned something. But in the end it is up to the district to decide unfortunately.
Reflection:
This half of the year was great. My grammar has improved. I have learned Pi. I also learned the periodic table.
I have learned a lot of cool social studies stuff as well. I have learned about Civilizations. And empires.
I have learned chemical formulas. For example (NaCl). I have also learned how to calculate atomic mass.
I have also learned about rates. And ratios. I've also improved on multiplying. And dividing.
All in all I think the rest of the year will be great.
walk two moons final draft:
Sal goes through a lot like her mom leaving, and a lot of other things. She goes through the 5 stages of grief. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
Sal’s mom died and she doesn’t want to accept it. She goes through the first stage of grief which is denial. She does not accept her mother’s death.
Then later in the story she is angry because she thinks about if it is true. She also gets mad easily.
Later after that she is in the bargaining stage. She makes deals with herself and others around her.
Then she gets to the place where her mom died and is depressed because she is almost ready to accept her mom’s death.
She finally gets to her mom’s grave. Only then in the book does she realize that her mom died. This is the end of the book and this was a realy sad book.
poem:
the winter
cold as night
when the sun goes down
the street lights flicker,
and the lights
of a distant house
shine bright
in the night.
the owls are up,
the crickets
sing.
then
the sun is gone,
and the street lights
are on,
but not off.
people
go home,
and the moon
is shinning down.
then the sun comes up,
and the lights turn off,
and people
go to work
and school.
the crickets
stop their long songs.
the owls sleep,
and don't get up,
until the sun is gone.
