  Silver in the Blood

by Jessica Day George

What if you were a lady from the 1800s going to visit your family in Romania? And they had magical powers to to turn into creature? And were helping someone evil? That's what happens to Dacia and Lou, two cousins from New York. They go visit their mothers' side of the family. When Lou gets there, she has already gotten a few letters from Dacia, who is traveling wither her parents and brothers (Lou had to go with Aunt Kate). These letters tell about a man that keeps talking to Dacia about things like, "You're the Claw" and following her. When Dacia gets to Romania, she is very happy to see Lou and they talk about the strange things that have happened on their way there. Little do they know that their family will reveal even more strange things, but won't tell them until the moon is full.

Dacia, meanwhile, has met a prince! It's no longer an official title but Dacia is still so excited! He's even taking her to an opera! But Prince Mahai's family name is Dracula. Dacia and Lou discover what their family has been hiding. They also discover a plan that was encouraged by a prophecy, but Dacia and Lou are determined that it doesn't mean what their grandmother thinks.

I thought that this book was very interesting and made you want to read more. It is easy to visualize because there are good description words. She does a good job describing what Lou feels like while she's in her magical form. I would recommend this book if you like magic, mystery, and suspense. I thought that this book was really great and is a good example of a descriptive, awesome book.
