Captain Underpants, Book One

By: Dav Pilkey

Could you imagine having to defend the world against an evil villain in a diaper? Well that is exactly what these elementary school boys have to do. This hilarious and action packed novel has the perfect combination of toilet comedy and action. Captain Underpants written by Dav Pilkey is a very good book. This book is about two boys named George and Harold that write comics about the perfect superhero named Captain Underpants. Some of the good things that Dav Pilkey does in the book are that he doesn't make anything obvious. For example when Captain Underpants is being arrested the last thing you would expect is another crime. Another thing that I liked was how when it was the most serious part there was always a bit of comedy put in. Some of the things that I didn't like about the book were that the climax wasn't very long so not very much suspense built up, but that left room for more comedy so I guess it was a split. Another one of the thing that I didn't like was when George and Harold pulled pranks the teachers and students would always say ''well I wonder who did that?'' and that gave me a sense thinking that they knew even more that George and Harold had pulled the prank. But that doesn't mean the book wasn't good. Why was this book banned: Most of you are thinking well why would someone ban a friendly humorous children's book? well I thought the same thing. This book was banned because some of the words in the book are spelled wrong on propose. This is a problem because most of the people reading this book are little kids still learning how to write and parents didn't want their kids reading words spelled the wrong way and thinking that they were spelled correctly. I would suggest this book to readers because it is very funny and is the opposite of boring.

Captain Underpants, Book Two

By: Dav Pilkey

How would you feel making a giant army of talking toilets trying to eat you? Well guess what. That is what two elementary school pranksters have to do. That's not all, the toilets even ate all of the teachers in the school! This book is about two elementary school boys named George and Harold that love to write comics and pull pranks. The author of this book is Dav Pilkey. Some of the good things that he does in this book are that he makes everything fit together. For example when another kid at their school explains to them what his science fair invention does, later in the story that plays a big role on the outcome of the story.  Another thing that the author does well in this book is the author learns from his mistake in the first book and makes the climax of the story last a good amount of time allowing for the story to make more sense.  Some of the bad things that the author does in this book are at the end he gives away the outcome a bit earlier than you would want to find out.  I liked this book because it was funny and there was never a sad part.  I would suggest this book to you because it is an easy read but it's a very quality book and is funny.  Why was this book banned? This book was banned because most of the people that read it are young kids that are still learning how to spell.  Some of the words in this book are purposely spelled wrong and parents didn't want their kids learning how to spell words wrong. I would suggest this book because it is funny and it is not a hard read.
