will's Albert Einstein essay

Do you know about Albert Einstein? He came up with multiple theories that changed the way we think about physics and science. He was a pacifist who thought war was a disease. He made many contributions to society. Albert Einstein revolutionized science, physics, and math. Although he had lots of trouble, Albert Einstein was the biggest genius of the 20th century. He rewrote everything we thought we knew about math and physics.

Einstein was born on March 14, 1874 in Ulm, Germany. Young Albert’s parents were Hermann and Pauline Einstein. He had what we consider “speech challenges” and would always pause to think about what he was going to say. While he was young, his mother would play the piano, which gave him a love of music that would stay with him for the rest of his life. This love of music also led him to play the violin.

When he was in school, Albert skipped class because he did not like the way the school taught. His school was very strict and only taught them facts. Contrary to popular belief, Albert Einstein had all A’s in school. (Wikipedia) After a while of skipping school, he rejoined his parents who had been in Milan, Italy while he was finishing his schooling. This was partly because of him wanting to be with his parents and leave his strict school and, partly because he didn’t want to go into the military when he turned 17. While in his teens, Albert published his first major paper, which investigated magnetic fields. While in Milan Einstein attended a school there. In this school they taught him how to think about the information he was learning. Einstein liked this school and did not skip as many classes there.

Albert Einstein sent his entrance exam into the Swiss Federal Polytechnic in 1895. He failed his exam because he had not passed language and other classes he did not like. Although since he had extraordinary grades in math and physics the principal suggested that he attend Argovian Cantonal high school in Switzerland. After going there for a year Albert made it into college and like his elementary schools, he started skipping class this was because he did not like some of the subjects and the teachers. He especially did not like his physics classes because they would not go over the latest theories. Albert needed to cram many notes from his friend Marcel Grossmann. Because of these notes, Einstein graduated college in 1900.

1905 is widely considered Einstein’s miracle year. In this year, he wrote four different papers. His papers were about the photoelectric effect, Brownian motion, his special theory of relativity, and the matter/energy relationship. His matter/energy relationship included the famous E=MC2 with E being energy, M being mass, and C being the constant speed of light. At this time, he was completely unknown. He was just a 26-year-old man working in a patent office. Einstein only became famous for these papers after Max Plank, the physicist who made the quantum theory, read his papers. Soon after, he became a professor at Karl Ferdinand University.

A few years later in 1919, Albert Einstein married his second wife Elsa LÖ. Who ended up dying in 1936. He later won the Nobel Prize for physics in 1921.

In 1933, Albert Einstein found that the Nazis confiscated his cottage and recreational boat. Soon his papers were targeted for book burnings and he had a $5000 bounty on his head. He then revoked his German citizenship and emigrated. Einstein emigrated only a month before Hitler became chancellor. During WWII* Einstein found out that the Germans were trying to build nuclear weapons. After being pressured by other scientists, he wrote a letter to president Roosevelt. This letter told him to study nuclear weapons. This Einstein later said was his biggest mistake but it was justified. After hearing about Hiroshima, Einstein opposed nuclear weapons as much as he could.

In America Einstein became a supporter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He had debates with Niels Bohr about whether or not quantum mechanics existed. Einstein did not believe in quantum mechanics and famously said “god does not play dice with the world.” To this Niels Bohr said”Stop telling god what to do.” He spent most of his later years trying to find equations to disprove quantum mechanics and to make his unified relativity theory.

Einstein died April 18, 1955 by internal bleeding. He refused to have it treated because as he said “I want to go when I want. It is tasteless to prolong life artificially. I have done my share it is time to go. I will do it elegantly.”

Albert Einstein was the greatest genius of the 20th century. He rewrote the way we thought about science and physics. He will be remembered forever for his contributions to science and physics. He published more than 300 papers contributing to science. He is the most important man of the 20th century.
