Competition/Achievement, Honesty, Respect for others, and Freedom are some of the values that I find important. The career I researched was Athletes and Sports Competitors. I think that this career would be good because I like competing with others on a team. This is what I learned about Athletes and Sports Competitors.
Athletes usually work for more than 40 hours a week, including holidays and weekends. Athletes practice to develop and improve their skills and play their sport. Also, Athletes get payed anywhere from the 100,000s to Millions (depending on how good of a player you are and what sport you play). An athlete would have to be competitive and be cooperative in order to be successful. Athletes also need to have extensive knowledge about the sport that they play and they have to practice a lot. The employment of Athletes and Sports Competitors is expected to grow 6% by 2024.
In the future and now, I plan to practice more and get better as a soccer player. I will have to work hard to get noticed by popular teams/clubs. I think this would be a good career for me because I like playing soccer. I also listed competition/achievement as one of the values that I find most important which is also an important value if you want to be an athlete. However, I don't think I would like having to work even on holidays. I have wanted to be an athlete for a long time and I want to work hard to get there.
