1. What is a utopia?
A Utopia is an ideal or "perfect" society that is crafted for the people so that they don't have the element of choice so that all decisions are made for the greater good by the government.
2. What is one example of a utopia (a book, a movie, a song, a place, or a concept)? (besides the Community) One example of a Utopia is the Victory City place.

3. In what ways is the Community in The Giver a utopia?
The Community in The Giver resembles a Utopia because it is very sheltered, the people get lots of good treatment, and everything is figured out for them.
4. In what ways is the Community in The Giver the opposite of a utopia (sometimes called a dystopia)?
The community has no REAL feelings or any REAL experience to create memories, in which they can be individually special or unique.They are afraid to go outside their comfort zone, so they don't try something new, or think/attempt to do something cool or special. So, in that case, they don't really live, they just have a life. They follow rules, doing what they are told, and they can't think for themselves unless there is an exception of some sort, like Jonas and the Giver. Sameness has created this psychological mind in which they cannot understand creativity or are dependent on one another to survive. Independence and diversity create a non-dependent person. But because of Sameness, they cannot operate on their own, leaving them to create a fear of dreams which is the medicine to cure the mind. Making the "Perfect" the destruction to Man kind.
5. Would you want to live in a utopia? Why or why not?
No. Living in a Utopia, wouldn't make me special or unique from the person next to me. The whole point in living is to make mistakes, and to learn, as well as being unique in your own way. If I were to live in a world of sameness/luxury away from the truth about pain or reality and that there is mistakes to be made in order to make perfection, I wouldn't be living my life the way I want to, or I wouldn't be able to be independent so that I can be me or have my very own kind of personality so that I can expand to the outer limits. Living in a place of people who can't see what life is really about, like not having your own experience to learn from and of just knowing what I have been trained has a big difference to really living and really knowing what life is about. Living like that would expand Man's biggest fear to such a mass that we cannot operate on our own, or even know what a Hippo is. I believe Man's biggest fear is being controlled to such a point, that no one is special, even if there is one job that can make the exception. It also proves Man's other fear of proving that living in a Utopia makes us stay inside the comfort zones so that we become cowards and do not want to think the impossible and beyond, to that it scares us. Living like that would be extremely painful. And there is more to life then just one feeling.
