The People

I watch the people walking by

And have to wonder, wonder why

They smile

Or frown

Or both

And see them walking tall and straight

Or heads bowed down, eyes filled with hate

Or sadness

Or happiness

Or both

And watch them cry, and laugh, and shout

And wonder how they came about

Or here

Or there

Or both

Something more

A flickering light

Grows deep in the night

Quiet and still

Bending it's will

To the spreading flames

Not one to play games

So just try not to handle

The strength of a candle

The Book

It's hands grip me and pull me in

To the wonderful words and stories it spins

It flies by my head, zooming past

I wish the story wouldn't end so fast

Yet there it goes, and now it's done

That cunning story of silly and fun
