“Don’t Tell Anyone” is a fiction book written by Peg Kehret. This book is 137 pages long. This book is about a twelve year old girl named Megan who finds a group of feral cats in a field that are being threatened by an impending construction job. While trying to save the feral cats from being bulldozed, Megan witnesses a fatal hit-and-run car accident, becomes blackmailed, and she becomes involved in a criminal’s plan to steal money from a construction company. One day, when she comes and feeds to cats after school, she notices that the field was going to be the next site of a construction project. As she was copying down the sign to report it, a stranger comes by in a truck and offers to help her save the feral cats. She trusts the guy and lets him help her. But it turns out that the guy that offered to help her was actually a criminal that was going to steal money from his brother-in-law’s construction company. He wasn’t actually going to help her, his plan was to fake help her long enough so that the job can get done so that he could withdraw money from the company’s back account without it being noticed.
My favorite part is the ending, it was very instense. This book was a real page turner. I finished the book in a day. It was so interesting. Once you picked up the book, you never want to put it down. It also didn’t start off too boring. In the beginning, it was only a little boring because the author had to explain the setting, conflict, and other things. But then the story started to take off in the next chapter.
I would definitely recommend this book to kids who like action filled stories. This book is filled with action at the end and is very intriguing to read. I would say that this book is a combination of horror and mystery because of the blackmailing.
