Uncommon Criminals

 Book Review By:

Miriam Atteberry

Have you ever heard a thief's side of the story? Do you want a super hot billionaire for a boyfriend? Even if he's a theif too....

Some information about the book is that it is a sequal to a book called Heist Society, which is also a very good book I recommend you read first. The book is now in a series, the next book that just came out. There are also other books in a different series by the same author Ally Carter. These books are called the Gallagher Girl Series which are also very good books that I have also read though, the first one is kind of boring at first but it gets better I promise. The other series doesn't really matter to this book review except that there will be a book bringing both series together which I am excited for.

What I like about this book is that it is really exciting and it had lots of twists that made sure I never got bored (because I'm kind of a picky reader). What I didn't like about the story was when it ended!!! I can't wait for even more to come out.

A reason why you shouldn't read the book is if you don't like or have some knowledge of things that have to do with art and artist that was the only part I didn't enjoy as much. I recommend this book because it's very exciting and I think it is very well written. The book is also very funny, probably more of a girls humor or a book a girl would like though I think anyone would be able to enjoy it if they read it.

This book is about a girl named Katarina who, in the first book of the series was trying to get out of the family buisness by scamming her way into the best boarding school in the country. Only to be kicked out for well lets just say making a water fountain of the principles sports car. Though capable, it wasn't Katarina. She was framed by her very attractive "friend" (cough cough for now!) Hale so she would be kicked out of the school. I know your thinking wow what a good friend, get her kicked out of her school, but it wasn't that bad after all her father needed help. A man was thinking her father was not only one of the suspects, but THE suspect for the man's stolen pricless paintings... But are they really his? She had two weeks and a teenage crew pull of the biggest heist in her family's history and find whoever really stole the paintings and keep her father safe.

So with that background knowledge yes, to answer your question. These books are about a family of theifs with quite a history.

Now, in Uncommon criminals (the second book) Kat (or Katarina) starts out by going around the world to different places, when needed, to steal back peices of artwork and return them to their rightful owners. After Kat returned to New York after being in Moscow. Riding down the escalator in the airport she was unaware of the boy standing behind her talking the bag from her shoulder, it was Hale. While leaving the airport a woman called her name she said Visily Romani had sent her.

They went to a diner and the woman (Constance Miller) began to tell them the story of how when she was a little girl her mother and father found Cleopatra's tomb, the last pharoah in egypt. She told them how the found the cleopatra's emerald. When they left for two weeks after her mother had given birth and was taking two weeks to recover. So they left their assistant to watch the treasure they found and he took it, he took it all. To that day the emerald had been passed down to the man who stole it's grandson.

****(Ummmm apparently my book review didn't save it was all colored and everything :( so I guess I'll finish my book review for the second time -__-)****

As I was saying....

After meeting with Constance Kat was considering stealing the emerald. Their was so many reasons why she shouldn't, so many good thieves had tried and never succeeded, there was said to be a curse. There was another problem though, the emerald hasn't been seen by the public for thirty years.

Once back at her uncle eddie's place with her bestfriend Hale, Hale and Gabrielle (Kat's cousin) try to talk Kat out of it after minutes of arguing they decide to steal the emerald because of a magazine that said the Oliver Kelly Corpration was moving the emerald. The Oliver Kelly Corporation is owned by Oliver Kelly the grandson of the man who took the emerald from Constance Miller. They take a visit to see thier uncle Charlie who is a forger, they had a plan.

After they planned for days they swapped out the real emerald for the forged one at the authentication room of the Oliver Kelly Corporation. Hale then leaves for Paraguay while Kat delivers the emerald to Constance. The problems begin when kat see's the real Constance Miller on t.v. She recieves a card from Visily Romani (that's really from him this time) saying "get it back"

Kat goes back to her Uncle Eddy's to find Simon, Gabrielle, and Hale. Soon after explaining to Simon what had happened they flew to Lyons to go try to find information on the FAKE Constance Miller at Interpol. After Kat finds some evidence she runs into Nick (You still should read the last book because there are a lot of people from the last book) They get on Hale's private jet (because yes he is an attractive billionaire) and look at the information. On t.v. they saw the fake Constance Miller on t.v. calling herself Maggie holding the Clepatra Emerald.

They soon figure out Maggie/Constance is trying to say that the Cleopatra is the Anthony Emerald... the other half of the emerald, and she is trying to sell it in Monte Carlo to the highest bidder. This was all part of her "Maggie's" plan.

During the rest of the book you will see what happens between Hale and Kat, AND Nick and Kat which is very interesting I might add. Also how Kat and the rest of her team tryed to plan and retrieve the emerald again.Once that doesn't work who they ask for help, and figuring out their family's history with Maggie, how they knew her, and why she used them to steel the emerald in the first place. I would tell you the rest but it's the best part of the story you will have to read and find out exactly what happens!!!
