The Education of Hailey Kendrick

Page history last edited by lavey677 11 years ago

Hailey Kendrick perfect world, perfect friends, perfect boyfriend, and perfect grades, every teenager girls’ dream. Who could think that one mistake could change her whole world upside down. This 256 page Novel by Eileen Cook shows how one girls perfect life changes because of one thing she did out of anger for her father. Hailey Kendrick lost her mom when she was young and because of her fathers sorrow he sent her off to boarding school. From then they both began to grow apart from each other. They both tried to get together during any break they could but found that it was to hard. The summer before Hailey was off to college her father had planned to spend it with Hailey and plan a party for her and her friends at his house. It was going to be the biggest party of the year. Sadly her father traded the party and the summer with Hailey for a work trip to London with his new girlfriend, Linda. A very disappointed Hailey runs out of school after curfew and destroys her schools statue of the mascot with her boyfriend’s best friend, Joel. Not to make things any worse in the heat of the moment they kiss and get caught by a security guard. Her boyfriend is furious with Hailey but is unaware it was his best friend that made the first move. Before long all her friends hate her. Her boyfriend, Tristan, most popular guy in school and is famous from his parents, dumped her. All she had left was her best friend, Kelsie, friend from at since Hailey started the school, her only true friend. Even then she messes up with the last person in the world that cared for her. In the end Hailey gets her life back and a boyfriend she never thought she would fall for. Her dad and her plan to spend spring break with eachother and she gets to meet his new girlfriend. Hailey learns that she can't take back what happened but after it all she probably never would choose to.  This story tells how one perfect girl makes a mistake and the struggles and challenges she faces along the way to try to make everything better.

I liked the book a lot because it shows that even "Perfect" people have struggles they have to fix mistakes and they do make mistakes. I like how this is a very realistic story. It could actually happen. It is also very sad how her whole world is dramatically turned upside down after one wrong decision. I also really liked the ending because everyone sticks up for her and I love those kind of moments when the group takes a stad to help someone.

One thing I did not like was that more people were not there for her when she was sad and she really needed people to comfort her. In reality, sadly that probably would happen that everyone would ignore that person if they made a mistake. I don't like reality I thought it was really sad.

Other than that I thought the book was really good and had a good plot.

I would recommend this to someone who likes reality. I would recommend it to any dramatic teenager. I would definitely read this again.
