                                                       The Giver Paper

I have many reasons to believe that the Sameness in the Giver is a wrong and hurtful expression of a possible future. Sameness would prevent you from learning from your mistakes. It would destroy diversity. It would corrode the need for freedom.

Firstly Sameness would prevent you from learning from your mistakes. We would not make major mistakes such as war and criticism of peers. We would not make mistakes that hindered us from following our routine schedule. We would still make small mistakes. Living proof of this is Asher.

Secondly  Sameness would destroy diversity. Diversity is a wonderful thing. It is what makes life beautiful, intresting, and colorful yet harsh and dangerous. How would you feel if all these things were taken from life. Then the best word to describe the world would be bland. This is in sharp contrast with how life is and should be. This is a huge reason Sameness is wrong.

Lastly  Sameness would corrode the need for freedom. With the carefully measured daily schedule every day would be to a more or lesser degree the same. Every person has to follow whatever schedule they are given by the community. Nobody gets to choose their spouse or career. Nobody is given the freedom they deserve, yet they don't care. They have been brainwashed to think that whatever the community says is correct. this is also a huge reason Sameness is wrong.

In conclusion Sameness is a wrong and hurtful expression of a possible future. Sameness would prevent you from learning from your mistakes. It would stop diversity. It would destroy freedom. Sameness is wrong
