The Titanic Disaster

By: Supritha

It has been over 100 years since the RMS Titanic sank in the Atlantic Ocean. In these 100 years, many questions have been asked. Some have asked "How did it
sink?" or "Why did the Titanic sink?" Others have asked about the people on the Titanic. The Titanic sank because of many reasons, including the structure, the
iceberg, and the many people that died from this incident.
The RMS Titanic was a very large known ship at the time. One reason is that the ship was very tall and heavy. The Titanic was a 900 ft long, 25 stories high, and it
weighed around 46,000 tons. Also, the builders wanted to make the ship "unsinkable." They wanted to make the ship last 3 days after it sank, so they used good
metals and materials.most importantly, the builders did a mistake. the ship was originally made to put 64 lifeboats, but the builders only put 20 lifeboats. to sum it
up, the Titanic was a large ship and the builders made a crucial mistake with the lifeboats.
On April 10, 1912, the Titanic was ready for its maiden voyage with around 2,200 people aboard. To begin, the Titanic had many stops to take. The Titanic left
Southampton, England to Cherbourg,France to Queenstown, Ireland with all of the people. In addition, the Titanic had many people after all of the stops. Around
2,200 total people were on the ship. Finally, the ship was ready to leave. The RMS Titanic left Queenstown, Ireland with around 2,200 people at 1:30 pm. In conclusion,
the Titanic left Quennstown, Ireland with around 2,200 people at 1:30 pm.
On the night of April 14,1912, the Titanic was sailing on the Atlantic Ocean and lots of problems came about. One problem was that there was a lot of ice. Six reports
of ice sitings had been sent, but the Titanic kept cruising. Furthermore, the Titanic didn't have the right equipment. When the lookouts were in place, they didn't
have binoculars. The last problem is that the icebergs were getting really big. A lookout called out "iceberg ahead!" and the Titanic only had a matter of seconds to react.
In conclusion, a lot of ice, the lack of supplies, and an iceberg right ahead led to a big BOOM!
Everybody on the Titanic was confused and people were worried. First of all, the ship hit the iceberg in the darkness of night. The Titanic hit the iceberg at 11:40 pm
in the Atlantic ocean. In addition, the ship got hit at the bottom. The Titanic was hit in one of the main waterlines, and icy water poured in. Most importantly, the people
didn't do anything. The passengers believed the ship was unsinkable, so they didn't panic. In conclusion, the Titanic was hit at night in the waterlines, and people
didn't know what to do.
The time after hitting the iceberg was not organized. One problem is the lifeboat drill was canceled. crew members didn't know what to do, and it took 1 hour
before any action. In addition, lifeboats were not being filled to the maximum, and many people were still on the ship, even after the last lifeboat was launched. the
last problem is that life jackets were not useful. the water was 4o below freezing, so passengers would die of exposure to the freezing water. In conclusion, lifeboats
and life jackets were not really helpful in saving people and lots of people were still on the Titanic after all of the lifeboats.
Many people died from the incident, but a very few people did survive. First of all, people mostly survived by lifeboats. Only 705 people out of around 2,200
people survived the Titanic disaster. Also, many people from first class survived the most. Sixty percent of first class survived (around 202 people of the 325 first
class passengers survived.) Finally, the Carpathia came to the rescue. The Carpathia took the 705 survivors from the lifeboats the next day. In conclusion, very few
people survived the incident of the Titanic.
Of the 2,200 people aboard, many passengers died. To begin, there was a very large number of passengers who died. Around 1,500 people had passed away, over half
the people on board. In addition, most people died from 3rd class. Seventy five percent of 3rd class died, but only around 178 people out of 708 3rd class passengers
survived. Most importantly, 3rd class passengers could have been saved. Since the gates for the exit were locked, 3rd class passengers were trapped and couldn't get
out. To sum it up, many 3rd class passengers died because nobody opened up the gates to the exit.
In conclusion, the Titanic disaster is an important event in history. Many people have died in this incident, and not many people were saved. The Titanic sank
because of many reasons including the structure, the iceberg, and the many people that died from this incident. The Titanic disaster is a very memorable incident and we
should not forget the incident that has happened over 100 years ago.
