Book Review

Title: The Titan’s Curse

Author:  Rick Riordan

Have you ever heard of the Greek Gods, like Zeus, Apollo, or Poseidon? The Titan’s Curse, the 3rd book in the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan is filled with them.

Percy Jackson, the main character in the series, is a half-blood, which means he is part human and part God.

In the book, Percy and his friend, Annabeth (the daughter of Athena) go on a rescue mission to save two demigods (offspring of a God) from a monster in a school in Maine.  The school looks like an evil castle.  Soon after entering, they encounter the two demigods and try to get them out of the school.  Suddenly, they are met by Dr. Thorn, the evil assistant principal.  Dr. Thorn takes them to the edge of a cliff and they wait for a helicopter to take them away.  While they waited, Percy’s friends, Grover and Thalia, show up and try to rescue both of them.  During the fight, Dr. Thorn turns into a Manticore, a monster with the body of a lion, a head of a human and a scorpion tail.  The monster grabs Annabeth and takes her away down the cliff.

The story tells Percy’s adventure to save his friend Annabeth as well as Artemis, goddess of the hunt, who was captured by “The General” who wants to destroy the Gods for his master, the Titan Kronos.  Percy and his friends set off on a quest that takes them all across America and involves horrifying metal monsters, zombies, life or death situations, and problems with the Gods.

This book is full of suspense and you never know what is going to happen next.  The story is so exciting and you just can’t stop reading it.  I would highly recommend this book.  However, the characters are explained more in the first two books of the series, so I would suggest that you read them first.
