Ruthies Book review to stargirl

Page history last edited by ruthie 10 years, 5 months ago

“Stargirl” is about this new girl that comes to Mica high school and is a huge outcast. She wore a dress so long it covered her shoes, with ruffles around her neck and cuffs. Everyday she would come into the cafeteria sit at the table all by herself and sing. She always seems to know when its someones birthday or whenever someone dies in your family because she would always come up and talk about it. Stargirl and Leo have a thing for each other because whenever Stargirl smiles or waves at Leo he gets tingles in his body. Stargirl became really popular once everyone thought she was cool and she joined the cheerleading squad and that’s when Leo and Stargirl were officially dating but everything started to go wrong once Stargirl kept cheering for the other basketball teams and sang happy birthday to the most popular girl in school Hillari Kimble which was a horrible thing to do because Hillari hates Stargirl! So now she got kicked off the cheerleading squad and got slapped in front of everyone by Hillari Kimble. And that’s when the shunning started, nobody in the whole school looked or talked to Stargirl or Leo, Stargirl didn’t care at all and neither did Leo until it kept happening. Then Leo tried to explain what being “normal” was to Stargirl and she tried being normal for a while but that didn’t work out so she began acting like herself again. Then suddenly Stargirl disappeared, leaving Leo with a bunch of questions to never be answered.

There’s nothing that I disliked about the book, its very interesting and makes you never want to put down the book.  I would recommend this book because it really gets you thinking on how you treat people and how its okay to be abnormal and you never actually know what people might be like unless you find out for yourself.
