Introduction

Have you ever read the book Swindle? Well if you haven't then I'm going to tell you about it. The author of the book "Swindle" is named Gordon Korman and it has 252 pages. It all started when Griffin Bing was on his way to a million dollars...until a mean collector named S. Wendell Palomino (a.k.a swindle) tricks him out of a rare Babe Ruth baseball card he also only gave him $120 that's exactly why we call him swindle. Now Griffin must put together a team of friends (and one or two enemies) to get it back.

Characters

The characters that I'm going to tell you about all have some part in the book. First I'll talk about the two main characters which is Griffin Bing and Ben Slovak. Griffin Bing is the "man with the plan" and Ben is his best friend. Ben Slovak is a kid who is a short, small boy who suffers from a narcolepsy and is Griffin's best friend. Now here are the rest. Darren Vader is a kid who bullies all the kids in the school. S.Wendell Palomino who's nickname from Ben and Griffin is "Swindle" is a sleazy man who rips people off on collectibles. Savannah Drysdale is an animal whisperer who helps calm Luthor, the vicious attack dog, down during the card heist. Antonia "Pitch" Benson is a girl who's family does rock climbing. She helps Ben and Griffin get the card back by assisting them with her wall climbing skills. Logan Kellerman is a kid who is known for his acting skills. Griffin and Ben use him to distract Mr.Eli Mulroney, the next door neighbor from catching them during the break-in. Tom Dufferin is the assistant manager of "Palomino's Emporium". Melissa Dukakis is a girl who is very shy. She is used by Ben and Griffin to hack into "Swindle's" email and disable the door alarm system. Detective Sergeant Vizzini is a cop who is trying to get the location of the Bambino card from Griffin.

Setting

The first setting in the story is the old run-down Rockford House. The reason the first setting takes place here is because that is where Ben and Griffin were hanging out for the night. The next setting is Mr.Palomino's house. The reason his house is the next setting because they broke into his house in like the middle of the book. The last setting was at the school where Griffin and Ben planned all of their attempts to get the card back and especially the plan to break into "Swindle's" house. The school is also where the group to retrieve the card was formed.

Plot

The plot is the actions that they were doing was illegal. If they don't have any evidence that "Swindle" tricked them out of a rare baseball card, then they may get caught for stealing the card back.

Conflict

There are a lot of conflict in this story but I'm just going to tell you about one. One of the conflicts was when Ben and Griffin got in this huge argument and they ended up not talking to each other, not sitting next to each other at lunch, and they also didn't hang out afterschool anymore like they usually do or just hanging out period.

Resolution

The resolution to the man versus nature conflict occurred when Savannah Drysdale calmed Luthor down and gave a piece of meat to the other dog. The man versus nature technology conflict was solved when Melissa Dukakis deactivated the alarm system rigged to the door. The man versus himself conflict was solved when Ben and Griffin both came together and agreed that they could accomplish this card heist. The man versus man conflict was solved by the police when they returned the card to the real rightful owner.

Antagonists

The antagonists in this story are Darren Vader and Mr.Palomino. Mr.Palomino is antagonist because he rips people off on collectibles. He ripped off Ben and Griffin on the rare Babe Ruth card. Darren is an antagonist because he is a school bully. At the beginning of this story he was the school bully until the kids let him join in by force on the heist. He then started acting as the good guy until they found the card. He asked if he could look at it, and immediately ran off with the card. He was just pretending to be nice all along. All he wanted was the Babe Ruth card.

Protagonists

Ben and Griffin are the protagonists in this story because they are just two kids who wants their card back. They are upset and mad at Mr.Palomino for being ripped off. Try just want some respect from adults and the rights to protest. They want to be treated fairly. Other protagonists in this story include include Logan Kellerman, Savannah Drysdale, Antonia "Pitch" Benson, and Melissa Dukakis. These characters are considered to be protagonists because all they want is for Palomino to get what he deserves for ripping people off.

What I liked or disliked about the book

I liked this book because it's telling me that you should stand up for what's yours. For example, what if a bully took your lunch then you should try to get it back.

Recommending

I would recommend this book of you like books that have a meaning like standing up for what's yours and all that stuff. It's a really good book I think you should read it and you always know what not to do "Never judge a book by its cover" you should sways remember that. Go check it out now!
