Shug Book Review

Page history last edited by AKabodian 11 years, 1 month ago

The book "Shug", by Jenny Han, is a 256 page book about a 7th grade girl named Annemarie. She lives with her Mother, her older sister Celia, and her father. Shug is Annemarie's nickname, and is short for sugar.

Annemarie has a pretty tough life. Her father is only home on most weekends, due to the many business trips he's always on, and  her mother is constantly drinking too much alcohol.

Plus, Annemarie recently realized that she has a crush on her best friend Mark, but he's always googling over the beautiful and talented Celia. Also, her other best friend, Elaine, is so obsessed with hanging out with the "popular group" and finding a boyfriend!

This book is the story of a typical 7th grade girl dealing with the challenges of becoming a teenager. I really liked all the details that the author put into the story to make Annemarie's life seem very realistic and would recommend this book because it gets you thinking about how some people deal with the problems that they face.
